We will do our best to help you, with advice and if necessary an urgent appointment at the surgery

It will help to have your EIRCODE to hand, to assist in finding where you are.

The following should be treated as emergencies requiring the ambulance :

  • Chest pain
  • Sudden collapse or loss of consciousness
  • Severe abdominal pain, particularly with vomiting.
  • Sudden severe injury

Out of hours service is provided by Cork & Kerry GP service – Southdoc. The service covers all parts of both counties.
It is run and staffed by local GP’s who work in the area.
It is necessary to make a phone appointment before you are seen in the centre.

Ring 1850 335 999 to make the appointment.

On Saturdays, Southdoc does not start until 1 pm.

Up to 1 pm. an urgent GP clinic is provided by a group of GPs in the town of Tralee , working from their own surgeries. If you phone: 066 7181344 a message will reveal who is on call.

HOW SOUTHDOC WORKS 

  1. Ring the the number 1 850 335 999 and the secretary takes your details, name, address, phone number and the problem.
  2. You are then called back by the TRIAGE NURSE. The nurse will talk to you about the problem. A suitable appointment is arranged at your local centre. Sometimes problems can be sorted with telephone advice.
  3. You attend for your appointment.
  4. The doctor writes the details of your visit, and the next morning, these notes are sent by SOUTHDOC to the patient’s GP, who will then know about your visit.

You cannot be seen at the SOUTHDOC centre without an appointment.

The Tralee SOUTHDOC centre is situated at  Colles Sandes  House, just off the Killeen Road, at Oakpark, Tralee.

House calls are provided for the elderly or infirm who cannot travel and particularly for patients who are residents of  Nursing Homes.

In case of emergencies, please phone the ambulance service by dialling 999 or 112. Urgent problems, and particularly serious injuries will need to go the the Emergency Dept (E.D) at University Hospital Kerry.
